Lil' redneck

We have been slack on the posts due to the fact that Dad has started a new job as the Regional Marketing Manager for Johnson Insurance.

Last Thursday Jmac was invited over to Sophie's house to "have a play" on the tractor that her Dad was using to do some landscaping.

Bluenose Marathon Weekend

James and Mommy ran down to Citadell Hill this morning to watch the start of the Bluenose Marathon. We missed the marathon start but did make the 10 km and saw the 2,600 people take off when the gun fired. There were A LOT of people and but we had a great time.

James love the "tools" they gave him to cheer on the runners!

The morning ended with a stop at Starbucks for some water and piece of banana bread. After waiting 45 minutes (marathon impacted the schedule) for the #1 bus we ended up walking home. It was a loooooog walk but we had WONDERFUL conversation the entire way :-)

power scoop

Will enjoyed a long weekend Sunday morning playing with his latest piece of heavy machinery.

clothes line

Will was a good little assistant this morning helping putting the sheets out to dry.

New soccer skills

James has figured out how to get around the whole "no hands" rule.

Backyard books

Highlight of the long weekend so far was enjoying some reading material in the great outdoors.

James fashioned himself is own little bench (which he like to refer to as the baby barricade).

Ah-go

Argo was even able to find some shade this afternoon.

Let's Dance

Here are the Stewart boys dancing to one of their favorite songs!!

Public Works Day in Parade Square

Mecole (aka Nicole) brought the boys downtown to meet Mommy for an adventure to Parade Square to visit all of the big machines. The HRM was having a special event to show off the "big rigs". The boys LOVED it!!!!!

Here is James driving a street cleaner. He even got to make the windshield wipers go :-)

James can't figure out what kind of machine this is!

Will can't either !

One of the highlights was James driving a Metro Transit bus. He was so excited and even got to honk the horn.

Will loved the bus too but all he wanted to do was sit in one of the seats and watch everyone walk by. He kicked and screamed when it was time to leave.

The big grader was the largest machine...just slightly bigger than the dump truck with a snow plow on the front.

The final stop was a digger. The door was locked but we got to climb up on the "ladder" to look in.

After all of the fun we were hungry and decided to get some lunch at the lunch counter in the basement of Mom's office building. Then we had lunch in one of the boardrooms in her office. James kept saying he "was having a very important meeting".

Walking the rails

Did I mention that the tracks kept us busy for over and hour.

And someone was blown away when he found his own little turntable. Thank goodness it was locked or we would still be there.

Diesels and Steamies

One of the highlights of our visit to Toronto was a visit to the roundhouse at the base of the CN tower. I would have thought that the sight of steam engine and a diesel locomotive and an actual roundhouse would have caught James' attention. But it was the tracks in the ground and the "switches" that kept him fascinated.

It was pretty cool seeing a turntable.

And Dad was happy that we could grab a refreshment and a pee break at a local brewery. Note to Steam Whistle: someone really liked your water cooler and someone really liked your free samples of pilsner.

Round Elevator

So the big question on Wednesday night, prior to our departure to Toronto, was whether the CN Tower had round elevators. James told me that the CN Tower was round so the elevators must be round.

As we flew into Billy Bishop Airport (Toronto City Centre) on our Porter flight last Thursday morning, James looked out the window and said, "See Dad I told you the CN Tower was round. So they must have round elevators."

This was all confirmed on Saturday when James and I rode the elevator to the observation deck. He was a little scared on the elevator ride as it was dark for a bit, but was excited to see that we were getting taller than all the other buildings.

The big hit was looking out the glass floor.

Jmac in the T-dot

Only one more sleep and then Jmac and his Dad are off to Toronto for a long-weekend to visit Nan and Grumps. Someone can't wait to visit their new repartment. He also is quite excited about taking Porter airlines as it means a small ferry ride, a shuttle bus ride, and a subway ride.

Back in the day

This used to be a man room. You know, leather club chairs, bottles of scotch, humidor, flatscreen with HD sports. It seems Thomas and his Friends have successfully overthrown that notion.

Wrecking Crew

Jmac's friend Aidan was over last weekend and he was happy to have some help with his "garden". Aidan taught James all about digging for worms. Needless to say, Jmac just wanted to fill in the holes with dirt.

Water Works

Guess who has learned to "couple" up the hose and sprinkler - and turn on the tap.

And the best line after 5 minutes of sprinkler action was, "Hey my clothes are all wet!"

The Birthday Three

"Dad, don't worry. Will, Sophie, and I can eat all of your birthday cake for you. We really like chocolate cake. You can have our crumbs."

Thankfully, Mom kept a small vanilla white cake for Dad (his favourite)

99 bottles...

Some would argue that Will picked this up from his father. I think he learned it from KT.

He was pretty proud of himself that he unpacked the entire 6-pack of Ginger Beer. Jmac declared that Dark n Stormies were "too spicy".
